Kimpee the Storykeeper
I’m Kimberly Muthra otherwise known as Kimpee the StoryKeeper. I have a passion for Bahamian culture. I would like to welcome you to my world of tales, Monkey Tales from The Bahamas. There is nothing like a good storyteller to tell you a story. Let your child’s imagination run wild as I tell them classical Bahamian folktales, stories of Ba Booky and Ba Rabby, to moral stories like The Potcake and the bone, along with myths, legends, superstition, and much, much more! We’ll visit and explore my islands of The Bahamas, through stories of the blue hole, the bat cave, and I’ll tell you about the mermaid pond. So come along and join me!
My Mission
My mission is to take you on an engaging journey beyond the region’s well-trod sun, sand, and sea attractions to reveal a unique side of The Bahamas seldom featured. Its folklores! Its classical folktales like, “Ba Booky and Ba Rabby go Whelkin,” Its myths, “The secret of Mermaid Pond,” The legends,” Lusca and Sunny,” and “The Chickcharney Gift,” and its superstitions, “ Rat, Rat, bring my teeth back.” I’m here to give my readers an enriched dose of true, true, Bahamian culture in our stories, so they wouldn’t be lost forever.
Monkey Tales is a place where parents, librarians, and teachers can find great Bahamian children’s books. My goal is to make your life easier. If you’re ready to start exploring Monkey Tales, Let me know how else I can help.
